I had an O-360-A1F6D on my RV-4, with a Sterba wood prop. It was very smooth and reliable. I flew tight multi-ship formation with it, necessitating rapid throttle changes, and never had an issue.

I used to have similar problems...

With single connection senders, those that use the case for the ground.

I then changed to senders with two connectors, one for signal and one for ground. I never had a problem after that.
