Temp was a little above zero in Minne, but we had not flown in a while, so we set up a lunch with a RV7 builder and college buddy down in Iowa where it was a balmy 10 or so.............

Carb Heat

Try some carb heat. My O-320 behaves like yours, but I can use carb heat to "steer" the mixture.

At 7500 feet, WOT, I can get the cylinders to peak at just about the same time with the carb heat...

My 9A has been pretty consistent over its 2,100 hours:

High cruise: ~150KTAS @ 7500ft on ~6GPH (burns a little less at 12,500)

Low cruise: ~130KTAS at any...
