Better to screw the fitting into a pipe die, then you can clean off the chips easily. You should have no problem finding the right die at the hardware store.

Spiral point taps work best because chips are pushed out ahead of the tap rather than filling up the flutes and causing binding.

Good tip, Martin! The roll bar on my 6 slider needed to be tweaked the other way. Used my floor mount drill press as a big arbor press to make it fit!

It is better to use a pipe die on the fitting rather a tap on the female thread for clocking. It doesn't take much, the anodizing is barely scratched off in a few spots. Way easier to wipe off...
