Crankshaft shortage for Experimental 370, 375, 382 etc?

Just a heads up.

We ordered a XO-370 from Continental Titan at Oshkosh 2017. The delivery date has long come and gone. Apparently the crankshaft is made in Germany and the supplier has been delaying delivery for some reason. A call out to AeroSport Power, Barrett, Superior has discovered the same thing since they all use this same part in their similar experimental variants. One engine assembler commented this delay has put any new orders out to 10 months.

This doesn't affect the traditional 180hp parallel valve variants of the 360 series just the newer 170hp-200hp experimental market light weight engines.

Continental has been good about updating waiting customers and has even made some small consolations to us in a good faith effort to keep us happy even though it's not directly their fault. I think there are at least 4 other waiting orders along side ours there.

May have something to do with one of those cranks breaking and the RV-8 landed safely on a road without injury to people or damage to the airplane.
