I am using the steel swivel pass through and the flange will be into the fuel pump doubler if I drill it where Vans says to. I have the vernier cable from Vans and it is very flexible. I would like to move the cable over to the left about an inch to clear the doubler and fuel line. Having never done this before I don't have a good feel for what I can get away with. I can't see why it would be a problem with such a flexible shaft but need input from others that have already been there. Thanks in advance:confused:

Hi All,

I am planning on building a RV-10. I live in northern Italy, I have a US-PPL with IR, so I want to register the aircraft under a trust or a US-company in the US. I already have reserved a N-number (N-61GU). Form 8130-2F, Chapter 8 says, that it is possible to build an experimental aircraft outside the US. So far so good. The sticky thing about it, is, that the airworthiness certificate and final inspection can only be issued and performed by a DAR, and the problem is, that only a US-citizen can become a DAR......
So, before ordering my first kit and tools I would ask if someone knows a DAR who lives in Europe, or visits regularly Europe, or a DAR in the US, who would like to come to Italy (when I finish my aircraft in appr.four years). I just don't want to end in a dead end road with a lot of sheat metal, rivets, that looks like an airplane but can never be certified like it.

Regards,

Alex

It's not a $ thing; it's just more fun to learn everything I can about a new phase when it arises. Plus, it keeps me from cluttering up my brain with things I don't need at the moment. I'm waiting for wings. I don't want to go back and redo electrical connections and such because I used the wrong technique or tool.

Trying to figure out why fuel was leaking from the airbox on a FI engine...

Here's the story. The battery was dead last night and so we hand proped the IO-320-E2D. We tried mixture rich settings/throttle 1/8 open & mixture cut-off/throttle full settings. For each we built pretty good fuel pressure just hand propping it and both times fuel began leaking from the airbox. Left a good 1 ft diameter spot on the concrete...so that's quite a bit of fuel (fire extinguisher close by).

I'm guessing since it's FI'd that the fuel was sprayed into the cylinders, then leaked out of the intake valves down to the airbox, then along the lower cowling to the ground? Not sure why any fuel would be delived with the mixture in cut-off though.

I just don't understand exactly what's going on here and why hand propping it would make a difference than using the starter.

If anyone has some experience on this, I'm very interested. Maybe there's a rule out there I don't know about that one shouldn't ever try to hand-prop a FI engine...haven't heard that, but who knows...

Thanks!

-Jim

P.S. Ended up jumping it with another battery and it started right up.
