match drilled spar carry-though?

Greetings,

I've been asked to look at an RV-4 project for someone, and was trying to remember if the spar, and spar carry-though sections were predrilled on the RV-4 kits. In other words, did you get the center section of the fuselage with the wing kit like you do with all the current Van's kits?

Thanks,
Rusty

Phlogiston spar

anybody have experience with the Phlogiston spar? goods, bads, others? how about the cost? i couldn't find any cost adjustments listed on van's order forms and haven't called them yet.
seems the spar comes ready for install?

go for it

I think it used to be about $1k for the Phlogy spars. Having built my own, I would go with Phlogy if I were to do it again. It's perfectly do-able but is somewhat of a mini project itself. It would just save a bunch of time and effort for a reasonable amount of $$.

Ironically, the mid 80s era RV4 that a bought has one of the first sets of Phlogy spars. My kit, which is much later, will have homemade spars. Go figure...

Good luck with your decision. I think you'll be fine either way.

John
