The 2011 West Coast Formation Clinic (WCFC) will be held from Friday April 29 to Sunday May 1, 2011 at Madera Municipal Airport (KMAE), Madera, California, hosted by the West Coast Ravens RV Formation Squadron.

Formation flying is an extremely fun, challenging and rewarding activity. The WCFC is designed to introduce you to the basics of, and develop your skills in, RV Formation Flying to FFI standards, in a safe, professional and fun environment.

The WCFC is open to RV aircraft only (-3, -4, -6, -7, -8, and -9?sorry no RV-10s or RV-12s). Participating pilots should have excellent stick and rudder skills. Aircraft must be in excellent condition and have dual controls, dual PTT, and an intercom. No vernier throttles allowed!

Interested pilots should join the 2011 WCFC Yahoo Group "http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WCFC2011/", and register for the clinic by adding a record to the database section. This is also the discussion group for all participants in the 2011 WCFC clinic.

Please also visit the 2011 WCFC website "http://www.rvformation.com/wcfc2011/index.html" which has a wealth of information under the various tabs, including all aircraft and paperwork requirements, airport info, a complete schedule of events, links to all the pre-study materials (T-34 Formation Manual, RV Supplement to the T-34 Manual, and the FFI Manual), and hotel group rate and reservation information.

The WCFC will begin at 1700 PDT on Friday evening with a mandatory, multi-media, interactive Ground School for all participants. Dinner is included (at cost).

On Saturday evening, there will be a fly-out BBQ dinner at nearby Sierra Sky Park (E79), hosted by FFI Flight Lead Tim ?Slick? Cone, at the internationally renowned ?Casa Cone?.

On Sunday, an ?All-Up? flight for all participants that have been cleared for 4-ship solo will be briefed and flown, giving all participants a taste of large formation maneuvering.

The West Coast Ravens would like to extend a sincere welcome to all clinic participants. We look forward to sharing the fun, challenge and camaraderie of RV Formation Flying with all comers!

Oooh-Rah photos follow!

PS: All of us involved with the WCFC are directing our thoughts and prayers to our Team RV, FFI, VAF/RV, and aviation brothers and sisters impacted by the tornado at SnF today.

I am planning on stopping by Sierra Sky Park for the BBQ. About what time are you guys going to head over there?

You guys have some fun

We'll be thinking of you all out there on the West end.

Slick, you and Nasty try to keep the blue side up at least some of the time.

We'll be performing in Vidalia this weekend so we'll have our fun meter pegged also..

Bob,
I just looked up your aprs track for the past event........you sure there wasn't a lot of beer consumed before you went flying?:D:D:D

Looked like a lot of fun.

Now what would make you think a thing like that!
Here's all three days (10+ sorties) with pre-clinic and post-clinic formation practice lunch runs included.

However, NO hops and/or barley were utilized (or consumed) in the making of those tracks! ;)

Jeremiah Weed may have visited during the post-checkride celebrations for a couple new wingmen and a new flight lead...but that can neither be confirmed nor denied...

Cheers,
Bob

WOW

That all looks like a ton of fun! Wish I could have enjoyed it too... OH WAIT!!! Only possible explanation for those tracks is all that smoke in the cockpit :p
Special mix?

Well, you did enjoy some of it. The track to the north was your hop. :)

And just to clarify for others...the young man means a little backflow smoke from the smoke system...no "smoke in the cockpit" emergencies!

And it was fun!

Cheers,
Bob
