A couple of questions re: letter of intent

I think I know the answer to these questions but just looking for confirmation.

On the Letter of Intent, it asks for Serial Number. I'm assuming I'll get a serial number when I receive the empennage kit?

And, for the RV-9A, I would check Maj. Portion Listed because it's on the list of aircraft kits eligible for the major portion, 51% rule, correct?

Is the Serial number my Customer Number given to me by Van's?

I don't think it has to be. I'm pretty sure at least here in Canada you can make up your own as you are the builder.
