Rebuilding a Carb?

I finally located a Marvel-Schebler MA 3SPA (10-3565-1) carburetor for my O-290-D2. When it arrives later this week I will need to rebuild it.

Can any of you provide some tips on this?

I have rebuilt tractor carbs, 2 & 4 barrel carbs, etc. when I was a kid w/o problem or fuel fires so I'm not exactly a novice, I just have never rebuilt an airplane carb.

Thanks for your help.

Find the overhaul manual from someone. I'd imagine your local EAA chapter should have one.

I had a local shop rebuild my Tri-Pacer carb several years ago after my A&P and I gave up on it. Words of advice from the shop:
1. Use quality Marvel parts, not the stuff from Consolidated.
2. Ensure the throttle body and fuel bowl mating surfaces are absolutely flat.
3. Don't forget the safety tab washers under the machine screw heads.
4. If the holes for the throttle shaft (butterflies) are worn beyond limits, the engine will never run quite right.
