Ordering before building?

I'm planning on using a Catto 3-blade. However, it's looking like 12-18 months' lead time. I already know what engine and cowl I'm going to be using. Are there any drawbacks with ordering a prop now, and hoping it'll be here by the time I've got 35F to that point?

Order it now if you know your engine. Just picked mine up Saturday after 9 months. It is a work of art :)

The only danger is that you'll change your mind before the prop is done. If you already have your mind made up go for it. I've got a Catto prop and I've been to his shop twice. He's a great guy, he does good work, and as already stated his props are beautiful.

Thanks, guys. I've seen and flown behind a Catto before, which is why I'm determined to have one on my own bird. Craig does fine work.

FWIW, I'm going with an O-320 (probably D1A) and James cowl.
