Flap fairing question?

Hi All,
I have my wings fit to the fuse and have hooked up the flaps to the actuator arm. there is a fairing tab attatched to the belly skin that is getting beat up by the nose of the flap. should this be trimed in some way? I am tempted to cut it off and fair it separately.

It's designed to be bent in a curve down a bit and rubs on the outside of the flap. It should lie flat when the flaps are up and when they go down it bends down.
