My Rocket Performance

Just for giggles I did a little performance testing today. Went up to 8,200 feet (8,000 PA) and went from full speed to slow speed and a few settings in between. FYI, I have confirmed my airspeed to be within 1 knot at ~200 knots via the 3 way GPS runs and Kevin Horton's spreadsheet (took a lot of fiddling with the static ports to get it there). Here is the result:

The range of speeds and economy of these airplanes amazes me - just dial in what you want!

My '55 Cessna 180, with bare tires, at 8k', burning 11.2 gph and nearly identical throttle settings as your Rocket, flown solo, only does 168 mph while your Rocket is a clear 53 mph faster. Impressive!

I know it's not an RV but my RV-3 isn't done yet.

Got to put the wheel pants back on the 180. ;)

Looks like you've got that thing moving pretty well, Mark. Have you done a sea level, full power run yet? You should see something line 215 knots or so.

You're right, amazing planes!

There is more to this story

Hey Mark:

Now you can see what speeds you can get up thru 17500. Mine will hit 214KTAS at 17500 on 11GPH. That fuel flow at 8500MSL yields about 205KTAS (22"/2200 @19C) in the Texas heat (10500DA).

Carry on!
Mark

nice screen shots!

Mark, nice numbers, and images from your Skyview! ( not that we didn't believe you!)
I'm sure somewhere on there it indicates the wind; I was getting over 150 kts coming back from Penticton yesterday at 5000' and about 2200 rpm...with a little tailwind! :) good numbers for a dusty -9a!

ooops! NOT dynon!

ah yea, gee, I thought the Garmin were only vertical format....hadn't seen this version!
....nice shots anyway...how do you capture them? I imagine it's simple eh?
no doubt there's a tutorial on the Garmin site for the real curious,
I'm just envious! :)
