Fiberglass VS?

The other day a few of us were standing around talking about antenna placement when someone mentioned that the fiberglass guys have it good because they can simply bury their antennas within their structures.

This got us thinking?

Do you think it is possible to build a safe Vertical Stabilizer out of fiberglass that would be a direct replacement for our aluminum VS?s?

Some of the builders on here have made fiberglass airplanes, what say ye?

Yes it is certainly possible. The caviat is that it would to be engineered. Not difficult but I doubt that vans will tell you the loads that it will see in service.

The more important info is that while the imbedded antennas do work they have limited range. In my glasair it was only good for 20 miles. The vertices is not tall enough to get an open dipole in perfect position.

Yes can be done but in my opinion not worth the effort
