Schematic editor

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive, easy to use, schematic editor? My needs are very simple. I thought I remember seeing a recommendation here, but can't find the post.

Thanks,

You download a free software called express sch that lets you create real nice looking schematics. There's a bit of a learning curve, but not too bad. The company makes its money by turning the schematics into printed circuit boards, but I just used the schematic editor. Good luck.

TurboCAD - old versions

Tom,
A much more powerful tool is TurboCAD. While current versions are expensive (I think they are up to v12 now) you can get old, but legal, versions on E-Bay for under $15.... here's one...

I'm running v8 and it's fine.... the "current old" version seems to be V9, newer than my version. It's pretty much a full-bodied drafting package with 3D and shading if you really want to get into it... :) But, it does 2D stuff well, and if you set up the grid properly and use 'snaps' you will have nice, clean schematics.

If you run this, you can read DXF and DWG files from other sources, and copy the schematics and symbols from AeroElectric Bob's web site.

This alone will save you many hours.... :)

good luck

Gil in Tucson .. looked at way to many schematics every day.... :D

Here's my link to a complete electrical system design for my RV-9A, along with a symbol library using this software.
